Enduro, adventure motorcycles and travels

November 2023 Moto Recap

It was a good month in terms of motorcycles. I didn’t have time for too many rides, but I still had a couple of good ones, did some commuting, and had a chance to visit an impressive BMW museum.

I started November with a beautiful road ride around Wrocław. It was a pretty warm and sunny day, with a totally fall look. It’s often called here as a Golden Polish Autumn.

On another Saturday, I was in a good mood for some off-road fun. I geared up, took the KTM EXC-F out of the garage, and… the engine didn’t start. It looked like the battery died. Like it or not, it was the first time to bring DesertX for some off-road.

As I knew it had been raining for a few days, and there should be mud everywhere, I tried to follow easier paths that I usually use as access roads for enduro trails. DesertX felt like a really good motorcycle for off-road, and there were only two things that didn’t make me that confident: Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires, which are 50/50 tires and are not great on mud, and stock gear shift lever, which is small, short, and hard to operate in enduro boots.

Hopefully, those can be adjusted. I added Motoz Tractionator Rallz tires to my shopping list. They are much better “winter” tires for the mid/heavy adventure motorcycle. Also, I ordered a Gear Lever Enlarger by Wunderlich. I’m not fully convinced it will help, but it’s a few times cheaper than the real aftermarket gear shift lever, so I will try that option first.

That’s not all! During the work travel week, I had a free afternoon in Munich. I took the chance and visited the BMW museum. The museum shows the whole BMW technical development history, including plane engines, cars, and motorcycles, but I focused on the last part.

They had plenty of different models there, including the oldest ones, the GS family, machines from the Dakar, and concept ones like BMW Concept 6 or futuristic electric bike concept.

November brought varied motorcycle adventures, from golden fall ride in Wrocław to off-road challenges with the DesertX. I’m looking forward for some real enduro rides next month!
