Enduro, adventure motorcycles and travels

December 2023 Moto Recap

December is a cold month in Poland, but due to the climate change we no longer have too many days with snow. That way, instead of “closing the season” I could still have a few rides. I also spent some time in the garage and mounted a couple of items I ordered from Wunderlich.

Surprisingly, I was able to use DesertX for some commuting this month. Also, I had a couple of sightseeing rides during Christmas and New Year break time. One shorter ride around the city and another one to the Oleśnica Castle. Both times, it was so freezing that two thoughts resonated: I should find time to visit a dealer to install my heated grips and buy proper four-season clothes.

I didn’t have a chance to ride enduro this month, but at least I bought a proper charger for KTM’s LiFePO4 battery and (probably) fixed it. Another learning is that I could use this TecMate charger to charge the DesertX battery, and I don’t need to buy the “premium Italian styled device”, as Ducati advertises their charger. The fun fact is that the Ducati one is also made by TecMate.

Taking advantage of the short days, I spent some time in the garage. I mounted a Gear Lever Enlarger by Wunderlich. It has a bit of a chopper-style look, but I don’t really care about how it looks, and my motivation is to make changing gears in off-road boots easier. However, I’m not super convinced that it will help, as I think the problem is more about the lever being too short and not just the gear shift lever tip. We will see how this cheap upgrade works.

Another upgrade I installed comes from Wunderlich, too. They designed a cockpit bag that fits between the TFT display and the windscreen. I wasn’t sure if it would fit with the Evotech holder installed, and Wunderlich support wasn’t certain either. I ordered the bag and tried to install it, and it works completely fine. It’s pretty small, even smaller than it seems in promotional photos, but it fits keys, a spare iPhone cable, and a set of ROK Straps, and there is still some room there. A pleasant surprise is that they packed the bag into a reusable dry bag and included a balaclava as a gift.

Wunderlich products maybe don’t have the first league design, but the quality is excellent, they include detailed instructions, they are perfectly packaged and complete – they even include a small tube of threadlocker!

Happy New Year!
