In many parts of Wroclaw, if you look southwest, you can see a distinctive mountain. Ślęża, the 718m peak, is located about 40km from the city center. The hill was one of the most crucial Pagan worship places in Poland, important for old Slavic tribes.
It is a beautiful destination for a half-day trip starting in Wroclaw and is one of my favorite routes for short motorcycle rides.
The route I usually choose goes through Bystrzyca River Valley and includes a stop at Mietkowskie Lake – the largest lake in the Dolnośląskie Voivodeship in Poland.
Route has plenty of places worth stopping by. Here is my non-exhaustive list:
- Borzygniew (Mietkowskie Lake) – you can sit on the beach, do some BBQ, rent a kayak or SUP, and even enjoy windsurfing.
- Tąpadła Pass – The hiking path to the Ślęża mountain top starts there. It takes about 2 hours to get to the top and back.
- Rogów Sudecki – a small village with a fantastic bakery/patisserie. Stop there and enjoy ice cream and pastries, and be sure to bring tasty bread or bakeries home.

I update this post as I improve the route and find new amusing places to stop.
